Free until you sell

A free ecommerce platform that charges only when you sell

WhizzyCommerce is a free ecommerce platform in the plainest sense: no monthly fee, unlimited products, customers and orders, and 2% of a sale only when an order is paid. Nothing worth having is free without a condition, so this page sets out exactly what ours is, and the point at which our paid plan becomes the cheaper one.

How free until you sell works

On Free there is no subscription. When an order is paid, 2% of it is added to a running total. That total is invoiced once a month, never taken out of the sale: the shopper pays into your own Stripe, PayPal or Mollie account, with your own keys, and the money lands there in full. A month with no sales costs nothing at all.

Refund an order and its fee is waived in proportion, rounded in your favour. Every sale behind the running total is listed in your dashboard before the invoice is drawn up. Card processing is charged by your own payment provider, as it would be on any platform; it is not part of our 2%.

  • Unlimited products, customers and orders, with nothing extra to pay past any number.
  • Discount codes, gift cards, abandoned checkout emails and several currencies.
  • A blog, translations of your shop, and up to 3 of your own domains.
  • 5 staff accounts, 20 GB for images and files, and support by email.
  • The AI assistant, with an allowance that grows with your sales, and the MCP connector for running the shop from Claude.

What a month costs, on each plan

The same function that draws up your invoice produced these numbers: Free is 2% of sales with no ceiling; Pro is €49 a month plus 0.5%, and the whole bill never passes €499 in a month.

When Pro becomes the cheaper plan

Below about €3,267 of sales a month, Free costs less. Above it, Pro does, and the gap widens quickly: at €10,000 a month Pro costs half as much. Pro's percentage stops growing at €90,000 of sales, so from there every further sale that month carries no fee at all.

You do not have to watch for the crossing yourself. The weekly brief the assistant writes tells you when another plan would have cost less and by how much. Moving up takes effect at once; moving back down happens at the end of the month. Pro is billed monthly only.

Pro also raises the limits that do exist: 15 staff accounts instead of 5, 10 custom domains instead of 3, 100 GB of storage instead of 20, priority support, and a much larger AI allowance with the storefront concierge included. The full comparison is on the pricing page.

Create an online store free, step by step

  1. 1

    Start a shop

Name it and say where your business is based. Every new shop starts as a demo for five days: build as much as you like, without a card. A demo cannot take real orders.

  2. 2

    Choose a look

Two catalogue themes, Aurora and Volt, are free; the others cost from €39, once, and each can be tried in your shop before you buy. Browse them on the themes page.

  3. 3

    Add your products

By hand, or by telling the assistant what you sell; there is no spreadsheet importer yet. Leaving Magento? The first 100 shops have the move done for them, free.

  4. 4

    Go live on Free

Choose Free, add a card for the monthly invoice, and paste the keys of your own payment provider. Everything you built in the demo carries over untouched.

What free does not mean

We would rather you read the conditions here than find them later.

  • Going live asks for a card, because the 2% is invoiced monthly rather than taken from your sales.
  • Your payment provider charges its own processing fees. We never touch that money, so we cannot waive them.
  • Most catalogue themes are paid. The free ones are complete themes, not cut-down versions.
  • On Free, the storefront concierge runs on Claude credit you top up, because its cost follows your traffic. Your own Anthropic key works instead, on either plan.
  • A Free shop nobody signs in to or sells from for 90 days is switched off and held for 30 days, with reminders, before it is deleted. Choosing a plan in that time restores it as it was.
  • WhizzyCommerce is in open beta. A few things are not built yet, such as cost prices for margin warnings, and we list them on the home page rather than hide them.

Why this free ecommerce platform takes a percentage

A monthly fee charges a new shop most when it can least afford it, in the months before its first sale. A percentage turns that round: we earn when you earn, and the cap on Pro means a shop that sells a lot is not punished for it.

Everything is in the box on both plans, so there is no app store to pay for month after month. If you are weighing this against the big hosted platform, our Shopify alternative page sets the two side by side, and the AI platform page explains the assistant that runs the shop.

Questions

Is WhizzyCommerce really free?

There is no monthly fee on Free and no limit on products, customers or orders. You pay 2% of each paid order, invoiced once a month. A month without sales costs nothing.

Do I need a card to start?

Not to build. A new shop is a demo for five days and needs no card. Going live asks for one, because the fees on your sales are invoiced monthly.

At what point should I move to Pro?

From about €3,267 of sales a month Pro costs less, and the weekly brief tells you when you pass it. Upgrading takes effect at once.

Who receives the money from my sales?

You do. The checkout charges your own Stripe, PayPal or Mollie account, so the money settles with you in full and you are the merchant of record. Our fee arrives separately on the monthly invoice.

Are there hidden costs?

Card processing by your payment provider, paid themes if you choose one, and Claude credit if you switch on the storefront concierge on Free. All three are shown before you pay for them.

Can I leave whenever I like?

Yes. There is no contract and no notice period. Export your products, customers and orders as CSV at any time; your payment account and your domain were always yours.
