Getting paid
WhizzyCommerce sells your theme to the merchant as merchant of record and adds tax at checkout. You earn 70% of the price before tax, and we pay the card fee. You can check every share against the price on your listing without any other arithmetic.
A €100 theme
Who keeps what
A theme listed at €100, bought by a merchant in Portugal. The VAT rate follows the merchant's country, and a business with a valid EU VAT number pays none under the reverse charge. Your share is the same either way.
| Line | Amount | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Merchant pays | €123.00 | €100.00 price plus 23% Portuguese VAT. |
| VAT to the authority | −€23.00 | Never revenue for either of us. |
| Card fee | −€2.10 | Paid by us, never taken from your share. |
| Your share | €70.00 | 70% of €100.00. One ledger line, pending. |
| WhizzyCommerce keeps | €27.90 | Hosting, demos, review, checkout, tax filings, support routing. |
Early
Founding developers
Developers who join while the programme is invite-only earn 80% instead of 70% for their first 12 months. On the same €100 sale that is €80.00.
The rate applies to sales made during those months, by the date of the sale. Your Earnings screen shows the share each line was paid at.
Timing
When earnings become payable
Each sale waits 30 days before it can be paid. That covers the merchant's refund window and most chargebacks, so money we pay you is money that stays paid.
| Rule | What it means |
|---|---|
| Hold | 30 days from the sale. Until then the line is pending. |
| Minimum | €50.00. Below that, the balance carries over to the next month. |
| Monthly run | On the 5th of each month, every available balance of at least €50.00 is paid out. |
| On request | Once your available balance reaches €50.00, press Request payout on the Earnings screen instead of waiting. |
| First payouts | Until you have been paid €5,000.00 in total, a person approves each payout before it is sent. |
A payout needs an approved account, the accepted agreement, your tax details and a payout method. The Payouts screen lists anything missing.
Where you look
Developer › Earnings
One line per sale: date, theme, version, the buyer's country, price, share and status. At the top: pending, available, and paid this year.
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| pending | Inside the 30-day hold. |
| available | Past the hold. Counts toward your next payout. |
| in payout | Part of a payout that has been requested or approved, and not yet sent. |
| paid | Sent. The line belongs to a payout with a statement. |
| void | Refunded or charged back while still pending, so never paid. |
Each payout opens its own page with the lines it settled and a statement you can download.
When a sale is undone
Refunds and chargebacks
A refund takes the merchant's licence back, and the share goes with it.
- While the line is pending, it is voided. Nothing was paid, so nothing is owed.
- After it was paid, a negative line of the same amount is added. It comes off your next payout.
- Your own purchases earn nothing. A theme bought by the owner of your developer account writes a line at 0%, so there is nothing to pay out.
- A pattern of refunds on one theme or one buyer is looked at by a person, and payouts can be held while that happens. You are told why.

Payout methods
Set the method under Developer › Payouts. Only the account owner or a member with the finance role can see or change it.
Available now
Bank transfer (SEPA)
In euros to an IBAN in the SEPA area. We check the IBAN when you save it, and show only its first and last four characters afterwards.
When enabled
Stripe
Stripe checks your identity and bank details in its own onboarding, and pays out in your currency. We never see your bank details. It appears on the Payouts screen once it is switched on for your country.
Paperwork
Tax details and self-billing statements
We write the invoice for you. Each payout comes with a self-billing statement: a numbered document, issued by us in your name, listing every line the payout settled.
- Under Developer › Payouts, give your legal name, address, country, and a VAT or tax number if you have one.
- Accepting the developer agreement includes agreeing to self-billing. If your country does not allow it, tell us before your first payout.
- Statements are numbered in sequence per year, so you and your accountant can see if one is missing.
- Prices are set before tax. Theme prices are free, or from €49.00 to €400.00.
