Payments
Bring your own ecommerce payment gateway
WhizzyCommerce works with the ecommerce payment gateway you already have, or the one you open this afternoon: Stripe, PayPal or Mollie, with your own keys. Shoppers pay you, the money lands in your account untouched, and our fee arrives itemised on next month's invoice.
Accept payments on your online store, in your own account
Most hosted platforms put themselves between the shopper and the merchant: the money goes through an account they control, their cut comes off the top, and you get what is left on their schedule. We used to do it that way too, and stopped.
Here the checkout charges your own provider account with the keys you paste into the dashboard. You are the merchant of record. Payouts, refunds and disputes happen in your provider's dashboard, on your provider's terms, and we never hold a cent of the sale. If you leave, the account was always yours and nothing has to be moved.
Which providers and payment methods are supported
Switch on as many as you like and the checkout offers them side by side, on your own domain and in your own design. Nobody is sent to a page wearing somebody else's branding halfway through, except where a provider's own page is how that method works.
| Provider | What the shopper sees | What you paste in |
|---|---|---|
| Stripe | Cards in the checkout page itself, plus whatever you turn on in your Stripe dashboard, such as Apple Pay or Klarna | Publishable key and secret key |
| PayPal | A trip to PayPal and straight back to your shop | Client ID and secret |
| Mollie | A trip to Mollie, with the methods you enabled there, and back | API key |
| ifthenpay (plugin) | Multibanco, MB WAY or card on ifthenpay's page, for Portuguese shoppers | Gateway key, Backoffice key and your accounts line |
| Offline methods | Bank transfer, cheque or money order, purchase order, cash on delivery | Nothing: you mark the order paid when the money arrives |
Bank transfer details are sent in the order email, never printed on the public checkout page, so your account number is read only by somebody who has actually ordered.
How an order becomes paid
Each provider's own notification decides that an order is paid, not the shopper's browser. A phone that runs out of battery on the Mollie page is still a paid order, and a Multibanco reference paid three days later still marks its order paid when ifthenpay confirms it. When the shopper does come back, the shop asks the provider at once, so they see the right answer straight away.
Gift cards work as a way to pay alongside any of these, and an order that comes to nothing settles on the spot.
How our percentage is billed
Our fee is never part of the payment. It is worked out when an order is paid, converted to euro at that day's rate if you sell in another currency, rounded per sale so you can add it up yourself, and put on your next monthly invoice with the plan, charged to the card on file. Every sale behind the running total is listed in your dashboard before the invoice is drawn up.
On Free it is 2% of each sale and no monthly fee. On Pro it is €49 a month and 0.5%, and the whole bill never passes €499 in a month. Refund an order and its fee is waived in proportion, rounded in your favour. The full numbers are on pricing, and the documents your shop issues for each sale are on invoices.
- 1
Sell €1,000 on Free
The €1,000 settles into your own account as you sell. The next invoice reads €20.
- 2
Sell €20,000 on Pro
The money is yours as it comes in. The next invoice reads €149: the plan and €100 of fee.
- 3
Sell a great deal more on Pro
The invoice stops at €499, however much the shop sells.
Setting it up
- 1
Open an account with a provider
Stripe, PayPal or Mollie, or an ifthenpay contract in Portugal. If you already sell elsewhere, the account you have works.
- 2
Paste the keys
In the dashboard's payment settings. Keys are stored sealed, and the checkout offers a provider only once it has everything it needs.
- 3
Place a test order
Then go live. A demo shop asks for your own keys at that moment, so nothing you built has to change.
Questions
Do you take a cut of each payment before it reaches me?
No. The payment goes from the shopper to your own provider account in full. Our percentage is added up and billed on your next invoice, never deducted from a payout.
Can I use more than one payment provider at once?
Yes. Switch on Stripe, PayPal and Mollie together, plus any of the offline methods, and the checkout offers them side by side.
Do Portuguese shoppers get Multibanco and MB WAY?
Yes, through the ifthenpay plugin and your own ifthenpay contract. The shopper pays on ifthenpay's page, and a Multibanco reference paid days later still marks the order paid when ifthenpay confirms it. See selling in Portugal.
What about Apple Pay, Google Pay or Klarna?
With Stripe, the checkout shows the methods you have turned on in your own Stripe dashboard, so enabling one there brings it to your shop without any change on our side.
Who handles refunds and chargebacks?
You do, in your provider's account, because you are the merchant of record. A refund still waives our fee on that order in proportion.
